Khachik Bozoghlian is an artist
best known for his
work in bronze.
With New York,
London and Teheran among the cities he has called
home, Bozoghlian's
experience of
displacement provides the
insider/outsider
perspective that distinguishes his work.
"Nothing in my life has been secure
or permanent,
but
the bronze, for me,
is an empathic statement
otherwise. I am of
Armenian descent, born in
Teheran.
I was forced to exhile early on and
made London my
home for a long time.
This experience contributes to a
sense of impermanence that has
permeated my life".
Khachik Bozoghlian currently lives and creates his art
work in New York. Khachik's talent
lies with his hands.
His sensitivity to
touch has enabled him to create various shapes and
textures. For a period of time he operated his own
handcraft shop while
he designed and
produced jewelry.
This experience led to bronze sculpting. It is this
medium which best
expresses
his inner nature.
An accomplished artist, his unique pieces depict many
aspects of human emotion. With his
bronze
sculptures,
he funnels his
irrepressible energies into the creation of
figures that are
sensual,
grotesque, perverse, violent,
even crazy. His approach
is intimate - an impassioned reflection of
his intense awareness of the body.
Khachik Bozoghlian is a keen observer with an
outsider's peculiar
blend of attraction to and distrust of convention.
